Shamar Joseph receives an upgraded international retainer contract from Cricket West Indies

Shamar Joseph’s contract has been upgraded from a franchise contract to an international retainer contract by Cricket West Indies following his memorable and excellent performance in the historic test victory against Australia on Sunday at the Gabba.

It is to be noted that this victory came after 27 years as the men from the Caribbean last defeated Australia in the longest and oldest format of the game in the 1997 season.

The match-winning spell of 7 wickets for 68 runs and a five-wicket haul in his debut test displayed the skills and talent of Shamar Joseph.

While recognising the outstanding performance of Shamar Joseph, Enoch Lewis, the Cricket West Indies Director and the Chair of the Cricket Development and Performance Committee, stated that it was purely Shamar Joseph’s unwavering commitment and dedication towards the game which helped him in earning the retained contract.

“As exhilarating as we are, it is also dutiful to elevate Shamar Joseph to a CWI International retainer contract. His extraordinary talent and steadfast dedication serve as the cornerstone of our team’s recent triumph at the Gabba, and such promise merits its due recognition. Shamar has not just been rewarded with a retained contract; he has earned it,” stated Enoch Lewis.

Miles Bascombe, the Director of Cricket, noted, “Shamar’s elevation to a CWI International retainer contract reflects his potential and the bright future ahead for West Indies cricket. We have also offered Chemar Holder a franchise contract as we double down on securing the best fast-bowling talent available. We are excited to see both men continue to excel.”

Shamar Joseph’s gameplay and his journey exemplify the brighter future of West Indies Cricket. Meanwhile, Chemar Holder has just returned from the injury and is all set to do wonders for his team.
