Several artists participate in creative showcase in St Kitts and Nevis
In St Kitts and Nevis, several artists have participated in the virtual creative showcase to commemorate the Inter-American Week for the People of African Descent in the Americas.

St Kitts and Nevis: In the twin-island Federation, several artists have participated in the virtual creative showcase to commemorate the Inter-American Week for the People of African Descent in the Americas. The event was organized between March 21 and March 25, 2022, and was celebrated under the theme – “Stories of Courage in the Americas: Resistance to Slavery and Unity Against Racism.”
The Organization of American States – St Kitts and Nevis– posted the digital showcase on the Facebook Page. As per the government, artists are welcome to submit original pre-existing or new pieces of art that speak to the theme. In accordance with the official notice, applications can be submitted up to April 01, 2022.
The showcase will be organized in collaboration between the Organization of American States (OAS) and the respective departments responsible for youth affairs on St Kitts and Nevis. Director of the Department of Youth Empowerment of St Kitts – Pierre Liburd said that he was pleased that more than 30 pieces have been submitted to date to be a part of the showcase.
Mr Liburd stated that the youngest artist is eight years old, “It is inspiring to see young people wanting to display their creativity and have their voices heard, and talent has seen.”
Director Liburd also encouraged people to go online to view, comment on, and share the Stories of Courage in the Americas album on the Organization of American States – St Kitts and Nevis Facebook Page.
Office of the Assistant Secretary-General and Coordinator of the National Offices – Jacinth Henry-Martin also took a note and stated that there is plenty of talent in St Kitts and Nevis. She added that every artist has presented an articulated rendition of some aspect of the theme, interpreted as artists do through the spirit embodied in the piece and the message it portrayed.”
