Deputy Prime Minister Ernest further shared a verse from the bible and mentioned, “As we reflect on the meaning of Good Friday in our lives, there is no better scripture to help us in our meditation, “For God so loved the people in the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes him must not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but so that the society may be saved through him” John 3:16-17.”

Good Friday is a religious observance for Christians worldwide. It is celebrated to mark the crucifixion of Jesus Christ on the cross, which is considered to be the ultimate sacrifice he made for the salvation of humanity. The day holds immense importance as it is believed that Christ’s death paid for the sins of mankind and paved the way for eternal life.

Good Friday is a remarkable day of reflection and mourning, and its observance varies among different Christian communities.

In many churches, the day is marked with a special service that includes the reading of the Passion narrative, which remembers the events leading up to Christ’s crucifixion. Some churches also hold a Three Hours’ Devotion, during which they meditate on the seven last sayings of Christ from the cross.

Many Christians also participate in the Stations of the Cross, a series of 14 images or statues depicting scenes from Christ’s journey to the cross, as they pray and reflect on the suffering of Christ. Fasting and abstinence from meat are common practices on Good Friday, and some Christians may also engage in acts of service and charity to others to honour Christ’s sacrifice.

Good Friday is a day of deep spiritual significance for Christians, and its observance is a powerful reminder of the love as well as the sacrifice of Jesus Christ.
