Saint Lucia bags 8 medals with a CARIFTA record in 50th edition of event
The Athletics Association of Saint Lucia has lauded all nine (9) players who clinched the top ranks in the competition and bagged eight (8) medals in different events.

Castries, Saint Lucia: The 50th edition of the CARIFTA Games, held at Nassau, Bahamas, has come to an end on April 10, 2023 (Monday). The Caribbean teams have shined throughout the sporting event and registered exceptional performances. As the Saint Lucian team prepares to return to the nation, Saint Lucia Athletics Association has shared an appreciation post and thanked the athletes for making the nation proud.
The Athletics Association of Saint Lucia has lauded all nine (9) players who clinched the top ranks in the competition and bagged eight (8) medals in different events. It further highlighted that three (3) of the total athletes would return with double medals.
The Saint Lucia Athletics Association further highlighted that the Saint Lucian team would return with a CARIFTA Record, along with two sprint medals.
The Association, while outlining the achievements of the team, noted, “The history-making team at this 50th Carifta Games – 8 medals, 9 athletes, all finalists/semifinalists in their respective events; 3 double medallist; 1 Carifta Record and 2 sprint medals.”
Furthermore, it stated that the players will return to the nation with calibre to compete in the upcoming games, which will be organised in 2024.
The social media post by the Association noted, “More than half the team have potential to return to compete at the 2024 Carifta Games.”
In addition to this, it thanked the athletes and people who invested in them for their continuous hard work and dedication. “Thank you, athletes, for your resilience, confidence and immense pride in competing for our great nation. We are proud,” it stated.
In the end, it cheered the team and showed its confidence in the players and athletes of Saint Lucia. Saint Lucia Athletics Association ended, “Grenada, here we come. CARIFTA 2024.”
Praise and congratulatory wishes were poured on the athletes from all sides, and many leaders, as well as citizens and residents, lauded them and thanked them for making the nation proud. One of the social media users named, Cornelia Ann Shirley Lubin, mentioned, “We are indeed proud of every one of you. Keep up the amazing work. Continue training seriously: proper nutrition, rest, avoid injuries (don’t overdo), do your school work to achieve your goals, and remain focused no matter what. Whatever is thrown at you, seek help to overthrow the negative. Keep God as your spiritual guide daily!”
Another user named Simeon Christophe stated, “The performance of such a small team is very, very impressive. 8 medals, 9 athletes. Some teams have over 20 athletes and manage to win only 10 medals,” while the third one commented, “Great job team Saint Lucia, we are proud of your hard work and dedication to our Country. Cheers to you and your family.”
