Barbados: Consumers would have to pay more for diesel, kerosene, and gasoline, but people would have to pay less for liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) products, effective from midnight, Sunday, July 3.
The cost of gasoline will be $4.72 per litre, an increase of 31 cents, while the diesel price will go up by four cents to $4.08 per litre, and kerosene will shift to $2.66, an increase of three cents.
The price of LPG will be $166.68 for the 100-lb cylinder, $ 46.77 for the 25-lb cylinder, $41.32 for the 22-lb cylinder and $37.57 for the 20-lb cylinder.
To protect consumers from the increase of refined petroleum products, the government declared the capping of the Value-added tax on diesel and gasoline in this year’s budget.
However, petroleum prices are increasing internationally; therefore, the costs would have to be adjusted upward for July. It is a matter of consideration for the citizens if the prices of gasoline will increase; consequently, prices of everything will increase as the cost of transportation rises to its peak this coming month.
As transportation increases, the prices of everything will rise.
Last month, from June 5 (Sunday), the price of gasoline was changed to $4.41 per litre, an increase of three (3) cents, while diesel was up by 1 cent to $4.04 per litre, and kerosene was moved to $2.63, an increase of 23 cents.
The retail price of LPG was $170.42 for the 100-lb cylinder, $ 47.71 for the 25-lb cylinder, $42.15 for the 22-lb cylinder and $38.31 for the 20-lb cylinder.
