PM Roosevelt Skerrit to attend CARICOM meeting, address Food Security, Climate Change issues
The Prime Minister of Dominica, Roosevelt Skerrit is all set to be part of the Forty-Sixth Regular meeting of the Heads of Government of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM). The meeting will be for four days starting from February 25 to 28, 2024, will take place in Georgetown, Guyana.

Roseau, Dominica: The Prime Minister of Dominica, Roosevelt Skerrit is all set to be part of the Forty-Sixth Regular meeting of the Heads of Government of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM). The meeting will be for four days starting from February 25 to 28, 2024 and will take place in Georgetown, Guyana.
The discussions at the meeting will aim to focus on various aspects which include:
- Regional food and nutrition security
- Developments in regional transportation
- Climate Change
- Climate Financing
- Global and Hemispheric issues
All the aspects included in the discussions would lead toward the developments in the Middle East.
Moreover, the discussions will also include talks on the situation of the crisis in Haiti. The discussion as well will include the receiving of an update on the implementation of the decision to work towards free movement for all Caribbean Community nationals.
After attending the 46th regular meeting of the heads of Government of the Caribbean Community, the Prime Minister will head over to St Vincent and Grenadines for the 8th summit of Heads of State and Government of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean states
The summit will take place on March 1, 2024, and aims to address the strengthening of the CELAC (Community of Latin American and Caribbean States). Not only this, the sustainable development of the Latin American and Caribbean regions as well will be discussed in the meeting.
CELAC is the coalition that has the objectives to unite, strengthen and promote the interests of Latin America and Caribbean states. The meeting will foster all the objectives and will give the results that can lead to united actions.
Considerably, the authorities have also announced that the Minister for Finance, Economic Development, Climate Resilience and Social Security – Dr Irving Mclntyre will serve as the acting Prime Minister of Dominica in the absence of the PM Roosevelt Skerrit. All the necessary actions required to be taken in the country in the absence of the Prime Minister will be taken under the leadership of the Finance Minister.
