Bahamas: Yesterday, Prime Minister Hubert Minnis inaugurated a new power plant on Bimini, indicating a move toward a more reliable energy supply for the nation.
The plant is the outcome of a collaboration between RAV Bahamas Ltd. and New Fortress Energy.
The administration of The Bahamas worked with one of the island’s corporate residents and investors, who encompassed an opportunity to assist the island with a clean and dependable energy source.
“This is a welcomed investment,” added Prime Minister Minnis.
RAV Bahamas is a significant developer on Bimini. Its investments involve the hotel and casino, the cruise pier, Virgin Cruises Beach Club, and the Marina at Bimini Bay and Rockwell Island.
During the coronavirus pandemic, they distributed 4,500 masks to the clinic or essential workers.
Furthermore, On 18 February, PM Hubert participated in the official opening of the Real-Time Crime Centre (RTCC) at Police Headquarters. The mission of the RTCC is to implement the police with the ability to capitalize on its wide and increasing range of technologies for efficient and effective policing.
“In The Bahamas, we have combined emerging technologies into our policing operations with the introduction of Shot Spotter, Marco’s Alert Digital Billboards, drone technology, closed-circuit television (CCTV), body-worn cameras, and dashboard cameras,” said the Prime Minister. The RTCC will centralize a broad range of current and evolving technologies.
The Centre will organize assets and direct the attention of resources to high-crime areas, active crimes in development, large-scale public events that may require law implementation presence or response, and high profile or high repeat offenders in the association.
The Bahamas has been experiencing many activities this year. A resident of Bahamas stated, “Minnis mix right up. He just had the Bahamian people without water on the island and wanna be praised for this energy move in Bimini? We still got airports with no lights! People in Abaco with no proper hospital or home accommodations. Only people benefitting are the tourists and the investors in a movie like this.”
