Meet eight participants of Saint Lucia National Carnival Queen 2023

Castries, Saint Lucia: The official social media account of Carnival Saint Lucia has recently introduced the participants of National Carnival Queen 2023, earlier this week.

As per the update, total ten (10) girls will be participating in the beauty pageant, out of which eight (8) has been revealed and remaining two (2) will be wild card contestants.

According to Carnival Saint Lucia, the 8 contestants already announced for the title of National Carnival Queen 2023 are:

1. Akia Chiquot, Laborie
2. Aliyel Fontenelle, Gros Islet
3. Bernell St Rose, Soufriere
4. Jadyn Leonty of Forestiere, Castries
5. Jernais Perineau of Bois d’Orange, Gros Islet
6. Leana Lewis, Dennery
7. Maria Edmund of Ciceron, Castries
8. Shanice Butcher of Bisee, Castries
9. Wild Card
10. Wild Card

The contestants will immediately begin preparing for the National Carnival Queen Pageant which includes training in the various segments of the pageant and personal and professional development. The next event on the National Carnival Queen Calendar is the Sashing Ceremony where contestants will be partnered with a sponsor, and become ambassadors for their brand.

Further, it has introduced all the participants and shared some interesting ‘queen facts’. Meet all the participants below:

1. Leana Lewis
She hails from the community of Grand Riviere Dennery and is 23 years old.
Queen Fact: Leana is passionate about sports, music, poetry and spoken word performing arts.

2. Bernell St Rose
She hails from the community of Soufriere and is 25 years old.
Queen Fact: Bernell is an active youth leader and is passionate about youth and sports development.

3. Jadyn Leonty
She hails from the community of Forestiere, Castries and is 19 years old.
Queen Fact: Jadyn was the youngest Student Council President at her secondary school (age 13).

4. Shanice Butcher
She hails from the community of Bissee Castries and is 25 years old.
Queen Fact: Shanice has a passion for sports and education and is an environmental activist.

5. Jernais Perineau
She hails from the community of Trouya, Gros Islet, and her age is 24 years.
Queen Fact: Jernais aspires to become a fashion model.

6. Akia Chiquot
She hails from the community of Laborie and is 22 years old.
Queen Fact: Akia has been a member of the Laborie Steel Pan Orchestra from the age of 9.

7. Aliyel Fontenelle
She hails from the community of Mongiraud, Gros Islet and is 18 years old.
Queen Fact: Aliyel’s ultimate life goal is to become a professional runway model.

8. Maria Edmund
She hails from the community of Ciceron Castries and is 25 years old.
Queen Fact: Maria describes herself as a lover of travel, pageantry and creative arts.
