Jamaica’s Minister of Foreign Affairs- Kamina Johnson shares glimpse of celebration of South Africa’s Freedom Day

Kingston, Jamaica: Senator and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, Kamina Johnson Smith, has conveyed wishes to the people of South Africa on the occasion of the 28th anniversary of “Freedom Day.”

Kamina Johnson has been candidature for the position of the Secretary-General of the Commonwealth 2022 from Jamaica.

She took it to Facebook to share the information, where she stated, “I recently celebrated the 28th anniversary of #SouthAfrica’s #FreedomDay with H.E. Lumka Yengeni, her team, the #MissionariesofthePoor and the wonderful children at Bethlehem House.”

She further added that, “#SouthAfrica has emerged as a global leader through their determination to unite and empower each and every citizen, while rising above the legacy of apartheid. I also hailed President Cyril Ramaphosa a for his commitment to South-South co-op. and making #SouthAfrica’s voice heard in multilateral championing causes related to equitable and fair treatment for all countries, including with respect to the #pandemic Department of International Relations and Cooperation, SA.”

“On behalf of a grateful #Jamaica, I acknowledged the zeal and humility with which the #MOP positively impact countless lives. May God continue to bless the Missionaries and those they serve, and may God grant many more years of strong and productive relations!,” Senator Johnson said.

Freedom Day is the commemoration of the 1st democratic elections held in South Africa on April 27, 1994. These were the foremost post-apartheid national elections that were held in South Africa, where everyone could vote regardless of race.
