Immigration department pledges to maintain security at border areas

Immigration Department of Saint Lucia Police Force urged zero tolerance for the people who violated the country’s immigration laws.

Castries, Saint Lucia: The Immigration Department of Saint Lucia Police Force urged zero tolerance for the people who violated the country’s immigration laws. The department expressed its commitment and dedication to maintain the integrity of the nation’s border.

It is to be noted that the immigration department along with police conducted joint operations and investigations regarding the law-breakers who put the sovereignty of the nation at risk.

The Saint Lucia police have arrested and charged those who illegally entered the country. Some of the cases are as follows:

  1. The investigating officers have arrested a Colombian national on February 3 and he was charged for being deemed a Prohibited Immigrant for Disembarking at a ‘Port Other than an Authorized Port of Entry.

The accused was identified as Brank Josef Rodriguez Morales forty-five-year-old and he was immediately removed from the state.

2. Another instance noted was an arrest of a Brazilian national, named Marcelo Sabino Intimo aged Forty-seven-year-old. He was arrested and charged regarding a ‘Prohibited Immigrant and charged for Disembarking at a Port Other than an Authorized Port of Entry’ between December 31, 2023 and February 2,2024.

He was immediately taken into custody and police managed to present him before the First District court on February 5. During his trial, the charges were read to him and he pleaded guilty and was remanded to the Bordelais Correctional Facility.

Recently, on February 12, the court ordered for the removal of the immigrant from the country. The officers responded to the decision of the court.

Moreover, the news has been shared by the Royal Saint Lucia Police Force through their official social media handle (Facebook) and many people admire the work of the police force.

While reacting to the news, a person named Magdelene Daniel commented, “Keep on serving and protecting our country. Well done RSLPF.”

Another person, by the name of Sylie Kyza wrote, “Well done officers. This is what we need in our country. The court should ban the illegal immigrants on our land.”

Additionally, the authorities and immigration department ensure to maintain the integrity of the border areas. They are taking strict actions against those who are trying to enter the country illegally.

The nations of the country expected their government to keep an eye on the border so that nobody would enter into the country this way.
