Hot and Hazy: Bahamas Forecast, Chance of Showers

Nassau, The Bahamas: The Bahamas Meteorology announced the public forecast for 12:00 pm this afternoon and tonight (Tuesday, July 25 2023).

The weather prediction covered all the basic points which should be known to the general public of the region, including warnings, weather conditions, situations, etc. The elaborated weather forecast, according to the Meteorology, is as follows:

General Situation: Remain weak high pressure and the presence of Saharan dust situated across the Bahamas will continue to produce hot and hazy conditions today. Meanwhile, moisture associated with a surface trough and a mid to upper-level low east of the area will push across the islands, increasing the chances for showers and thunderstorms later today through tonight.

Special Warnings: The public is urged to stay well hydrated and to limit spending prolonged periods in the sun during peak hours as heat indices in the triple digits are also expected due to the presence of Saharan dust. Those who suffer from respiratory ailments and allergies should also limit time spent outdoors.

Weather: Partly sunny, hot and hazy but a bit breezy across the southeast Bahamas with widely scattered showers and the chance of a few isolated thunderstorms today variably cloudy with shower chances increasing through tonight.

Advisory: A small craft caution will come into effect for the southeast Bahamas this evening; boaters can expect gusty winds and higher seas in or near showers and thunderstorms.

Winds: Northeast to east at 10 to 15 knots, increasing to 15 to 20 knots in the southeast Bahamas tonight.

Seas: 2 to 4 feet over the ocean building 4 to 6 feet in the southeast Bahamas tonight.

Weather Outlook: 11:00 am (for tomorrow/weekend), high pressure across the area will gradually shift northwards as the surface trough and upper-level low east of the islands move west across the Bahamas, increasing shower and thunderstorm activity through the next few days.

Tropical Weather Outlook: Two areas are being monitored in the tropics at this time, (1) a tropical wave located near the windward islands moving quickly westwards with a low 10 percent chance for formation chance through 7 days, and (2) a weak trough of low pressure located a few hundred miles south-southwest of Bermuda with a low 20 percent chance for formation through 7 days. Elsewhere tropical cyclone formation is not expected through the next seven days.
