HC Amit Telang presents credentials to PM Browne, reaffirms commitment towards Antigua and Barbuda

Antigua and Barbuda: Dr Amit S Telang, High Commissioner of India to Antigua and Barbuda, paid a courtesy visit on February 6, 2024 to Antigua and Barbuda to meet with Prime Minister, Gaston Browne.
Dr Telang, the newly appointed High Commissioner, presented his letters of introduction to Prime Minister Browne. Such a meeting reflects the efforts to strengthen bilateral ties and foster collaboration on the areas crucial to both India and Antigua and Barbuda.
During the meeting, the Prime Minister, Gaston Browne extended his heartfelt gratitude to the Government of India for its continued support to not only Antigua and Barbuda but to the Caribbean region.
The PM further highlighted the various initiatives by India which supported the region. Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation (ITEC) and the International Solar Alliance are two of them. He noted that there are potential areas to deepen investment and trade between the two nations.
Notably, the ITEC is a bilateral assistance programme run by the Government of India which includes 158 countries from which several Caribbean nations as well are included. The International Solar Alliance, aimed at addressing climate change, particularly benefits countries located between the Tropics of Cancer and Capricorn, including Antigua and Barbuda.
The High Commissioner Amit Telang also added his remarks that India and Antigua and Barbuda share warm and cordial relations. This even signifies stronger bilateral ties between the nations, India and Antigua and Barbuda.
Adding to it, the common shares between both countries include values of food security, agriculture and climate change. These values shared are among the areas of potential cooperation. And, the Government of India reaffirms its commitment to working with the authorities of Antigua and Barbuda.
During the visit, the high commissioner also met with the senior officials and Ambassador Anthony Liverpool, who is the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs
