Guyana will host CPL semi-finals, finals for next three years

Guyana: The Guyanese Government has announced that it will host the semi-finals and finals of the Hero Caribbean Premier League (CPL) for next three (3) consecutive years.

President Dr Irfaan Ali made this announcement at the official launch of the Cricket Carnival as well as Caribbean Premier League 2022 on the evening of March 30, 2022 (Wednesday) at the National Stadium of Providence.

The three-year agreement between the organizing association and the Government of Guyana will start in 2022 and will continue until 2024.

President Irfaan Ali, in the midst of applause, stated, “The finals and semi-finals of the game will be held in Guyana.”

President Ali further stated that this Cricket Carnival is a perfect fusion of cricket as well as culture, which is celebrated under the “One Guyana” banner.

The Head of State also promised to provide an electrifying atmosphere at the games and a plethora of activities. This event will showcase Guyana’s entertainment prowess, its culture, food, and local talents, he further stated.

President further informed that the government has been planning to create a product that would directly or indirectly promote tourism.

Earlier, Guyana hosted the CPL Games in the year 2019.

The two-week Cricket Carnival will form part of activities surrounding Guyana’s hosting of 11 games during the upcoming tournament.

The window for Hero CPL 2022 is August 30 to September 30.
