Guyana: Prez Ali engages in multiple workings, talks about next year’s budget
Guyana: President Irfaan Ali spoke about ways of enhancing the agricultural potential of the South Central Rupununi village of Rupunau, in Region Nine.

Guyana: President Irfaan Ali spoke about ways of enhancing the agricultural potential of the South Central Rupununi village of Rupunau, in Region Nine (Upper Takutu-Upper Essequibo), during a visit to the community over the weekend.
The Head of State told residents that the Government would provide 20 breeding rams and ten breeding bulls to enhance their livestock potential.
He also said that the Government would aid in the construction of several homes, while he assured that the road linking Sand Creek and Rupunau would be completed.
President Ali was accompanied by the Minister of Amerindian Affairs, Pauline Sukhai; the Minister of Local Government and Regional Development, Nigel Dharamlall and the Minister within the Ministry of Housing and Water, Susan Rodrigues, as well as Region Nine Chairman, Mr Bryan Allicock.
Additionally, President Ali also announced the construction of a new school for Shea village during a visit on Sunday to the Region Nine Community.
The Wapichan village, which is situated about 100 miles southeast of Lethem by dirt road, will play a part in the construction of the $10m school since blocks will be sourced from the community.
In addition, the President also announced that the contract for the bridge into Shea had been awarded.
After listening to the concerns of the residents, the President also said that the Government would assist in marketing peanuts and farine from the community.
Earlier, President assured the residents that in next year’s budget, the Government would set aside $15m to continue water extension in Achawib.
President Ali made this announcement as he addressed residents gathered in the Deep South Rupununi community while pointing to several other interventions, including job creation, agriculture, social programmes, as well as the training of nurses and teachers.
The Head of State was joined by the Minister of Amerindian Affairs, Pauline Sukhai; the Minister of Local Government and Regional Development, Nigel Dharamlall and the Minister within the Ministry of Housing and Water, Susan Rodrigues.
