Guyana: Health Ministry hands over medical equipment to various hospitals
The Ministry of Health of the Republic of Guyana handed over the medical equipment for the Fort Wellington Hospital in Region Five (Mahaica-Berbice).

Georgetown, Guyana: The Ministry of Health of the Republic of Guyana handed over the medical equipment for the Fort Wellington Hospital in Region Five (Mahaica-Berbice). The update by the ministry read, “Handing Over of Medical Equipment! The Fort Wellington Hospital in Region Five (Mahaica-Berbice), Minister of Health, Dr Frank Anthony, handed over a quantity of Medical Supplies funded by the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) to Dr Desmond Nicholson, the Regional Health Officer (RHO), on February 17, 2023.”
According to the post by the ministry, in brief remarks, Dr Nicholson stated that the Region is grateful for the donation, which he said will boost the Maternal and Child Health Programme within the Region.
The update further informed that among the items donated were Examination Stools, Pediatric Bassinet, Portables Screens, Electrical baby Scales and Adult Scales, Gynecologist Examination Beds, Photo Therapy Lamps, Autoclaves, Stethoscopes and Footstools.
Along with this, the Regional Health Officer (RHO) of Region Six, Dr Vishalya Sharma, joined by the Minister of Health, Dr Frank Anthony and other officials, embarked on a walk-thru visit at the Mibicuri Health Facilities.
On the same day, at a handing over ceremony held at the Region Six Drug Bond, the Minister of Health, Dr Frank Anthony, presented a quantity of medical equipment to aid in better service delivery to patients seeking care at various health facilities within the Region.
During his brief remarks, Minister Dr Anthony said that the equipment is part of the improvement and infrastructure to enhance Maternal and Child Health Care at various facilities.
Among the items donated were Examination Stools, Pediatric Bassinet Portables Screens, Electrical baby Scales, Adult Scales, Gynecologist Examination Beds, Photo Therapy Lamps, Autoclaves, Stethoscopes and Footstools.
Present at this handing over ceremony were Dr Vishwa Mahadeo, Director General of Regional Health Services; Dr Vishalya Sharma, the Regional Health Officer (RHO); the Chief Executive Officer (CEO); Dr Bob Ramnauth; Dr Veronica Griffith, Deputy Director of Regional and Clinical Services and other officials.
