Growing plants in region using vertical approach can lead to growth: Melissa Skerrit

Roseau, Dominica: The Minister of Housing, Land & Urban Development, Melissa Skerrit will host the Urban Agriculture Training facilitated by the Chinese agricultural mission to avail the knowledge to the participants focusing on the various areas of agriculture.

The date for this has not yet been announced however, this training aims at providing detailed information which will benefit the people who are participating regarding the agriculture works. The areas which will be covered for the information include the details about Hydroponics and modern farming, food security, water efficiency, reduced land use and climate resilience.

Not only this, but this will also include the description of the innovation, increased productivity and capacity development. Training provided in all the included areas will help the people engaged in agriculture activities to work in a better way. 

Importantly, the training will be provided completely free of cost and will allow the participants to learn about new techniques and strategies. 

Considerably, the minister took this initiative for the betterment of the region, which will directly boost the growth and development of the country. Not only this, such action taken will help in creating the employment opportunity as well.

“Not owning a plot of land doesn’t prevent you from growing your own food; it simply requires a vertical approach,” mentioned Melissa Skerrit, connecting the initiative with the betterment.

Her mentioned words refer to the vertical approach that explains the new and innovative methods that can be used for planting. The major focus on Hydroponics and modern farming will allow the people to grab all the knowledge about the vertical approach.

Moreover, Hydroponics is a technique which is water-based planting rather than soil-based using different equipment. To which, she also shared some of the glimpses on her social media.

Considerably, she also highlighted that this method directs towards the future of farming in the country and will direct the locals towards learning of the methods that can be used for the plantation of more food, in a limited space and less time.
