Grenada stands 2nd in OECS Invitational boxing in Saint Lucia
The boxing team of Grenada led their way to ten medals; two gold, six silver and two bronze and secured second position at the OECS Invitational Boxing Championships

                                                    The boxing team of Grenada led their way to ten medals; two gold, six silver and two bronze and secured second position at the OECS Invitational Boxing Championships. The championships took place in Saint Lucia on Friday, July 28, and Saturday, July 29, at the Vigie Multi-Purpose Sports Complex.
The host country Saint Lucia topped the points table with 38 points, followed by Grenada at 20, Antigua & Barbuda at 18, Barbados at 15, Martinique at 11 and Guyana at 8 points.
The Grenadian team was represented by 10 boxers, including one female. The team is as follows:
- Jerron Phillip – Middleweight Novice
- Dan Charles – Lightweight Novice
- Nathanielia Stafford – Light heavyweight youth female
- Allan Charles – Light Middleweight Novice
- Vincent Samawano – Light Welterweight Novice
- Shakim Cox – Middleweight Junior
- Dan Charles – Lightweight Novice
- Timothy Stephen – Middleweight Elite
- Jason Mascall – Light Heavyweight Elite
- Jaffer Shade -Light Heavyweight Novice
- Shevon Lewis – Super heavyweight Elite
Coaches Sebastian Stiell and Darren Stefon John travelled from the USA to accompany the team. At the same time, Lyle Bullen and Stefan Sylvester served as officials, with Nakitha Noel acting as both referee and attaché. Nathanielia Stafford, the lone female boxer representing Grenada, won gold in the youth light heavyweight category.
Minister of State Ron Redhead, responsible for Youth, Sports, and Culture, praised the boxers for their accomplishments, saying, “The Spice Isle is proud of you, and we thank you for representing the red, gold, and green flag so well.” He added, “This victory serves as a reminder that Grenada has the potential to excel in boxing with the right approach and support.”
The Saint Lucia Boxing Association (SLBA) organized and hosted the tournament and gave amazing hospitality to the participating team members and their coaches as they arrived in Saint Lucia.
