Dominica wins Eastern Caribbean Volleyball Association Under 21 Men’s 2024
Dominica is the new winner of the Eastern Caribbean Volleyball Association (ECVA) Under 21 Men’s Beach Volleyball Champions 2024.

Dominica is the new winner of the Eastern Caribbean Volleyball Association (ECVA) Under 21 Men’s Beach Volleyball Champions 2024. The team of Mervin Mingo and Bill Frederick defeated St Kitts and Nevis in straight sets to lift the Championship, scoring 21-19 and 21-18.
Dominica remained undefeated in this championship, winning all the games and making it to the finals. The Championship was held in St Kitts and Nevis from 30 August to 1 September 2024 at the Marriot Beach. A total of 11 nations participated in this tournament, and Dominica beat all to emerge as the winner of the prestigious title.
They were followed by St Kitts and Nevis, Julian Bristol and Vickash Sundar and Khaliq Joseph and Miguel Lugo as the first and second runners-up of the competition respectively.
The nations participated in the championship includes, Anguilla (AGU), Antigua and Barbuda (ANT), Bermuda (BER), British Virgin Islands (IVB), Grenada (GRN), Dominica (DMA), Saba (SAB), St. Eustatius (EUX), St. Kitts and Nevis (SKN), St. Vincent and the Grenadines (VIN) and St. Lucia (LCA).
The ECVA Beach Championship is a zonal tournament for all eastern Caribbean countries. It gives a platform to all the local and emerging talents to represent their nation as well as strengthen bonds and relations with several other Caribbean countries.
This prestigious event brought together 13 teams from 11 countries, all competing for a coveted spot in the FIVB Beach Volleyball U21 World Championships, which will take place in Georgia in July 2025.
The participation of the 11 nations in this competition shed light on their unwavering commitment and dedication to providing youth athletes with several opportunities to compete at the greatest level to foster both their athletic development and personal growth.
Ater emerging victorious at the Eastern Caribbean Volleyball Association 2024, the Dominica’s Volleyball Association expressed gratitude and stated that this championship is a great initiative which outline the commitment of the authorities to increasing beach volleyball’s presence within the Eastern Caribbean.
They also noted that this championship creates a huge platform for the coaches to enhance their skills, athletes to sharper their performances in order to foster youth development in the sport. The Association also continued to say that such initiatives are a great way of elevating the standards of beach volleyball throughout the region and creating several opportunities for the growth of the athletes and sportspersons of the Caribbean.
Two teams from Dominica were headed to St Kitts and Nevis for the Eastern Caribbean Volleyball Association Under 21 Beach Volleyball Tournament.
The Men’s Team of Bill Frederick and Mervin Mingo and the Women’s Team of Nyla Edmond and Alyssa Bully represented the country. The teams were coached by Ray Robinson and Yahn Florent with assistance from international volleyball coach Brian Gavlas.
