Dominica: Listed in top 5 Best Islands to visit in 2024

Dominica ranked as the fifth Best Island, making it to the list of top 25 islands to visit all around the world, by the esteemed American magazine ‘Travel+Leisure’ (T+L), for its World’s Best Awards Survey for the year 2024. The island also got nicknamed as “Nature Island”.

The island nation is enveloped with dense rain forests, hot springs, waterfalls, black-sand beaches and volcanoes. As an appreciation for its unflawed natural beauty and eco-adventures, the nation was named as the ‘Nature Island’. The country scored a total of 92.47, ranking it to the fifth position.

T+L stated, “The underwater world also attracts scuba divers and snorkeler, with healthy, vividly colorful coral reefs, marine life, and volcanic formations.”

The World’s Best Awards survey by the T+L is done every year where they ask the readers to cast their votes based on the travel experience around the world, to share their opinions and views on various aspects of top resorts, cities, islands, airlines, spas, hotels, and more.

For the year 2024, over 186,000 readers of the T+L magazine have participated in the survey. A total of 8,700 properties (resorts, islands, airlines, etc.) were listed for the voting process for which more than 700,000 votes were casted.

Many in trend islands like Bali, Maldives, Cuba, Fiji Islands, and many more are also a part of the top 25 list. The magazine expressed that islands always ensure travelers a leap to paradise, but these top 25 islands have a bit more to offer.

The magazine also acknowledged the fact that the pristine beaches and clear waters add up to an idyllic landscape for relaxation and rejuvenation. In addition, they stated that these destinations are home to a number of exciting activities, be it surfing, snorkeling or attending and living through the regional festivals and sampling local cuisines.

This voting and ranking of the islands are done by the readers keeping certain factors in mind like the beaches, natural attractions, food and cuisine, healthcare, values and hospitality.
