Roseau Valley, Dominica: Prime Minister of Dominica handed over 10 houses during a handing over ceremony in Cochrane. The climate-resilient homes built by the government for 10 families under the Housing the Nation Initiative.
PM applauded the efforts of the parliament representative from Roseau Valley, Dr Irving McIntyre, for listening out to his constituents.
He stated that the housing revolution has been touching every community, every constituency of Dominica. PM Skerrit added that as a government, they recognize the importance of housing.
“Once you have decent housing accommodation with access to the amenities, water facility and lights. This will definitely increase the standard of living.” stated the Dominican Prime Minister.
PM Skerrit said that as a political party, it’s not their fundamental function to provide housing to the citizens of their country, but the government also consider its biblical duties to fulfil the requirements of the general public.
PM Skerrit stated that it is his commitment as a leader of the country and labour party-led administration to remain uncompromising in the quest to make life better for Dominicans.
“It would cost money, but it is an investment that is believed to be worth it as human life is more precious than anything else. After this ceremony, there will be 10 families that would claim a piece of land in Dominica as theirs. These people can also pass it to their children through the will.” stated PM Roosevelt Skerrit.
Furthermore, he said Dominica has gone through the devastating effects of Hurricane Maria and has efficiently won through this. The housing nation initiative is a way through which the citizens would be placed in a better position.
PM Skerrit also highlighted that due to the investment of the government into the infrastructures of Cochrane, the prices of the properties have increased. By this, the number of buyers has increased to buy land in Cochrane.
