Desrie Markam announced Antigua Carnival Queen 2024, showcase rich cultural heritage

Antigua and Barbuda: Desrie Markam’s charm, elegance and beauty made her the newly crowned Queen of Carnival 2024. She representing Rawdon and Associates emerged victorious defeating six other contestants and claimed the coveted crown. Dominique Trotman and Shania Samuel became the first and the second runners-up of the pageant respectively.

Desrie’s presence and beauty set the stage on fire which won the hearts of all the judges and attendees of the event. She not only claimed the title of the Antigua Carnival Queen but also won two tags including, Best Evening Gown and Most Photogenic.

Her entire performance in the pageant reflected her as a perfect combination of beauty with brains. She walked on the ramp with utmost confidence and dignity which was highly appreciated by the attendees and judges of the pageant.

Moreover, Desrie Markham, who is an Attorney-at-Law and has always been passionate about theatre arts. She actively advocates for the National Secondary School Drama Festival. She has also been a crucial member of the National Youth Theatre for the last seven years. With her participation in the pageant, she aimed to showcase the rich cultural heritage of the country and inspire other young ladies to come out and be the greatest version of themselves.

And, with her victory, she has succeeded in her aim towards motivating young girls and inspiring them to participate in such cultural activities. Also, this competition promotes the diverse talents and qualities of the contestants, therefore, they presented many other tags in order to appreciate the unique qualities and talent of the other contestants.

The titles won by the other contestants include, Kevinya Joseph claimed two tags Miss Congeniality and Best Swimwear, J’amalyn Stevens won People’s Choice Award, Chandera Codrington also won two titles including  Best in Interview and Best Costume and Shania Samuel claimed Best Performing Talent.

All the contestants showcased their beauty and charm on the stage while promoting vibrant culture and traditions of the nation. As this event not only celebrates the beauty and talents of Antigua and Barbuda’s young ladies but it also serves as an opportunity for the people to showcase the rich cultural heritage and contemporary flair.

Also, as Desrie Markam begins her reign as the next Queen of Carnival 2024, she is all ready to become an ambassador for the vibrant carnival traditions and cultural scene of the island nation.
