The crime rate is increasing very rapidly in the Caribbean region, which is eventually becoming a threat to its tourism sector. Tourists are being afraid to plan their holidays to Jamaica because of hiking murders and crime rates.
It is believed that drugs and gang issues are the main reason behind that why the island is now facing such a rapid increase in criminal activities. Jamaica is now one of the highest nations in the Caribbean and the Latin American region to have the highest crime.
The Jamaican government is making every effort to curb the soaring killings by imposing a state of emergency and a curfew in the hotspot areas.
Prime Minister Andrew Holness gave special power to the police authorities, asking them to take every step which is needed to stop the rising criminal exercises.
