Basseterre: St Kitts and Nevis has recorded a total of thirty-five fresh cases of the COVID-19 virus, taking the active number of infections to 1,217 on January 16, 2022. The data was shared in a report by the Ministry of Health and Wellness of the twin-island Federation.
No fresh death has been reported in St Kitts and Nevis on Sunday; that is, the death rate remains at 28. The data of the health ministry’s report notes that since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic (April 21, 2021), there have been a total of 4968 confirmed infections of the deadliest mutant, of which a total of 4227 were recorded in St Kitts, and 741 were recorded in Nevis.
Of all the COVID-19 tests conducted by the healthcare facilities on the island, 58,696 individuals tested negative.
While, as per to the vaccination report of the twin-island Federation, 81,9% of the total targeted population has taken their first jabs of the WHO-approved vaccines, whereas around 76.2% of the population has taken its required number of doses and are now fully immunised in Barbados, as of January 17, 2022.
At least 7.7 percent of the twin-island Federation eligible population has taken their booster shots. The report’s data further underscores that around 17.4% of the children population is partially inoculated by taking one jab of the COVID-19 vaccine.
On the other hand, around 14.9% of the children population is now fully immunised against the deadliest virus, till Monday.
The report further notes :
- Number of total doses administered in St Kitts and Nevis: 56,320
- Doses administered in St Kitts: 42,868
- Doses administered in Nevis: 13, 452
- Total number of booster shots administered: 2,548
- Total number of individuals who are fully immunised: 25,891
