Belize: Ambassador David Kuan-Chou Chien meets Ambassador to US Michelle Kwan
Ambassador David Kuan-Chou Chien was pleased to meet with Michelle Kwan, Ambassador of the US Embassy Belize.

Belmopan, Belize: Ambassador David Kuan-Chou Chien was pleased to meet with Michelle Kwan, Ambassador of the US Embassy Belize, as well as Andie De Arment, Political and Economic Chief, to bid farewell when reaching the end of his tour of duty, and to exchange viewpoints on the issues of a future partnership between Belize-US-Taiwan in benefiting Belizean people and empowering women on February 16, 2023.
During their fruitful conversation, both sides also pledged to work together with the Government of Belize to strengthen the three-party cooperation. As the United States and Taiwan share a rock-solid partnership based on the shared values of democracy, freedom and human rights, the Embassy once again would like to extend its appreciation to the US Embassy in Belize for its support and friendship.
Earlier, Taiwan-Belize Mandarin Program was launched in San Ignacio/Santa Elena. Ambassador David Kuan-Chou Chien had the pleasure of attending the inauguration ceremony of the Taiwan-Belize Mandarin Program in San Ignacio/Santa Elena (SISE), jointly with Michel Chebat, Minister of Public Utilities, Energy, Logistics and E-governance, Claribel Cocom, President of Cayo North United Women’s Group, and Robert Pan, Chief of Taiwan Technical Mission in Belize. The Program will be open to the public and available to local residents who are interested in learning Mandarin. Now, a total number of 50 students are registered in the course, which will be undergoing in the following six months every Thursday from 3 PM to 5 PM.
As per the official post, during his remarks, Ambassador Chien expressed his gratitude to the Belize government for supporting the Taiwan-Belize Mandarin Program, aiming to provide Belizeans with opportunities of learning Mandarin and Taiwanese culture. He also encouraged those who attend the courses to apply for Taiwan/ICDF Scholarships in the future to acquire their advanced degrees in Taiwan.
Through the said Mandarin Program and many other bilateral cooperation projects, the Embassy will continue to work hand-in-hand with the Government of Belize for the benefit of both the countries and their people.
