Barbados celebrated Flag Day in order to represent the national colours and rich cultural heritage of the island nation to all the players and visitors arriving for World Cup Final 2024 in Kensington Oval on Friday.

Barbados: Barbados celebrated Flag Day in order to represent the national colours and rich cultural heritage of the island nation to all the players and visitors arriving for World Cup Final 2024 in Kensington Oval on Friday.
Prime Minister of Barbados, Mia Amor Mottley stated that they celebrate who they are and why they are welcoming the world to their shores for the World Cup Finals on Saturday. While expressing her wish, she stated that she would have loved it if West Indies would have made it to the finals.
Although, she added that despite the presence of West Indies in the finals, she knows how to wholeheartedly welcome the other regions to the island nation and showcase its best offerings to them.
Upon hearing the request from the PM Mottley, every Barbadian from different walks of life celebrated Barbados Flag Day in order to showcase their pride and patriotism with their displays of blue, yellow and black.
Moreover, the Consulate General of Barbados at Toronto joined Barbadians across the world in celebration of Flag Day. In order to commemorate it, the consulate staff donned in their blue and yellow outfits at a short ceremony at their office on 110 Sheppard Avenue East, Toronto.
The Day has been designated by Government of Barbados as a means of drawing attention to the hosting of the ICC T20 Finals which has been scheduled to take place at the Kensington oval today between India and South Africa.
India has made its place into the finals by defeating the defending champions by 68 runs in Guyana. On the other hand, these finals would be more significant for South Africa as they have reached into the finals for the first time by defeating Afghanistan by 9 wickets. Both the teams have remained unbeaten throughout the tournament and have not won the world cup since so long. Therefore, the fans of both the teams have expressed their excitement on attending the finals at Kensington and cheer for their favourite team.
These attendees will get an opportunity to not only witness the thrilling finals but also the beautiful and vibrant culture and traditions of Barbados.
