Bahamas to re-open its borders on the basis of vaccination status

The new changes had been made to the Emergency powers order. The government of the Bahamas had announced several changes that include the testing requirement of the domestic travel, adjustments in the time of curfews, travel health visa fees, funeral services, wedding reception and outlines for the fully vaccinated persons.

Prime Minister Dr Hurbert Minis said that these changes in Emergency Powers Order had become possible due to the progress achieved by the government in managing the COVID-19 situation. According to PM Dr Minis, the face mask and hand sanitisers would still remain a compulsory requirement.

Prime Minister Minni said that they had aimed to fully re-open in several months if various conditions would be met and advised by health officials. As always, they would continue to follow the science and consult with their health team on how best to move forward.d

The government of the Bahamas changed the timings of curfew in several areas like Grand Bahamas timing would be from 12 midnight to 5:00 a.m, in Abaco timings would be 11:00 p.m to 5:00 a.m, North Andros, Cat Island and Central Andros timings would begin from 10:00 p.m to 5:00 a.m

Now the South Andros and Berry Islands have been freed up from the curfews, and the PCR test would not be compulsory for the travellers from Cat islands, Grand Bahama and Andros.

The Travel Health Visa fees of US$ 10 would be waived for those who would be fully vaccinated and for the Bahamians who have been returning to their home from abroad. Travellers still required to apply for the Travel Health Visa.

Now the government of Bahamas have permitted private gatherings, social events at residence. Still, this condition would only be applied if all the attendees have been fully vaccinated with 2nd dose of the COVID-19 vaccine that has been approved by the government and WHO. Wedding receptions and funerals have also been permitted on the same conditions.

All performance groups and artists, including bands, Junkanoo groups, dance troupes, and acting groups, may perform at all activities permitted under the Emergency Powers Order, provided that all performers are fully vaccinated.
