Antigua & Barbuda: Schools will not allow unvaccinated students, teachers & staff members to enter its premises

The government of Antigua & Barbuda, in its media release, informed that unvaccinated secondary students, teachers and the other staff members would not be permitted to enter the premises of the school from today onwards.

The government noted that the decision had been taken to assure the safety of students, teachers and the staff, adding that it is the responsibility of parents to get their children vaccinated.

“The law requires that parents prepare their children to attend schools. Getting their sons and daughters who are 12 years and above vaccinated and eligible to attend secondary schools is the responsibility of parents. If the children are not prepared, they shall not be allowed on the premises of the schools effective Thursday 11 November 2021,” the statement of the government in the press release.

World Health Organisation – WHO earlier highlighted that vaccinating the population and implementing the COVID-19 health protocols is the sole to survive in this fight of the world against the deadliest coronavirus.

As soon as the whole population will get vaccinated, it would assist the particular country to get back to normalcy and open their borders for the travellers and citizens, which will eventually boost the economy of a state which has been affected by the COVID outbreak.

As per the statistics, Antigua and Barbuda so far have recorded more than 4,100 COVID-19 infection cases, while in total, 105 individuals have lost their lives to the contagious mutant.

This decision of the Antiguan government will surely help it to curb the spread of the virus. On the island, till now, around 58,497 individuals(that is 59.7 % population) have been vaccinated with their first dose of the vaccine, whereas atleast 53.8 per cent of its population (52,689) have received their second jabs of the vaccine and are now fully vaccinated.
