St John’s, Antigua and Barbuda: The Antigua and Barbuda Athletics Association (ABAA) recently congratulated three athletes who made the nation proud after qualifying for the 2023 CAC Games in El Salvador.

“The ABAA would like to congratulate Cejhae Greene, Darion Skerrit and Joella Lloyd on their qualifications for the 2023 CAC GAMES IN EL SALVADOR from July 6th – 8th,” stated the Antigua and Barbuda Athletics Association.

The Games will be held from July 6 to 8, 2023.

The athletes were selected by NACAC based on their regional and world rankings.

All three athletes qualified based on their performances from the 2022 Track and Field Season, mainly the NACAC senior championships that were held in the Bahamas. The qualification period was from January 1, 2022, to May 1 2023.

Cejhae Greene is the meet record holder with a time of 10.00s.

The Association noted, “We would like to inform you that the Antigua and Barbuda National Olympic Committee has officially announced their squad for the upcoming 2023 Central American and Caribbean Games. The event will be held in San Salvador, El Salvador, from June 23 to July 8, 2023.”

It continued that the delegation will be led by Joel Rayne, who will be supported by Cliff Williams, Secretary General of the ABNOC; Tianna Harris, Deputy Chef de Mission and Chaperone; EP Chet Greene, President of the ABNOC, and Keston Daley, the team’s physiotherapist. The sporting team will enter the competition in two waves, with Boxing, Beach Volleyball, and Swimming starting from the opening to the end of their competition, on June 29, and Athletics and Cycling starting from July 1 to the closing on July 8, 2023.

“We are happy to inform you that the Athletics team will be represented by Cejhae Greene, who holds the CAC Games record in 100 m and is the fastest man to qualify for the competition, and Darion Skerrit, who will be competing in 200 m,” it added.

“Joella Lloyd qualified in both women’s 100 m and 200 m but is unable to participate in the Games due to an injury that has been affecting her throughout her 2023 season. The Athletics team will be managed by Heather Samuel-Daley,” Antigua and Barbuda Athletics Association mentioned.
