Agriculture Minister thanks Ross University for its continued partnership

Minister of Agriculture, Alexis Jeffers, displayed honour to the Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine for handing over new different kinds of breeds of cattle and sheep to the Department of Agriculture, regarding that it depicts a succession of the excellent cooperation that endures among the school and the Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis. 

The minister revealed this amid the handing over ceremony amid the Department of Agriculture and Ross University on 12th November at Mansion village.

“This cooperation you have heard the Dean speak about is nothing unique. Assume I were to reflect on 2017 after those 2 storms that would have stirred our region. In that case, you could remember that the administration of St. Kitts and Nevis would have performed its part in securing the partnership with the Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine and contributed some safe havens to students from other islands to students who would have moved on with their studies,” said Minister Jeffers.

He added, “The initiative this day tells me that there is forever a good thing to give back and what is declaration this morning is the fact that Ross University is practising the students who are there and also the whole institution to present their expertise towards the growth of our breeding stock here in the Federation.”

Reflecting on the importance of the contribution, the minister said, “If we were to use the traditional way of breeding or to provide offspring here in courses of the beef production, it would take a very long time,” he said. “But to begin a new breed, to enhance the rich nature of stock, you do require some proficient help and you do need some new and innovative methods of doing things.”

Minister Jeffers said that the effort that has been exercised by the Ross University is one that is being welcomed by the Federation and believes that this enterprise translates to advances in meat production.
