MoH announces screening schedule for year 1 Nursery students across Guyana
Ministry of Health of Guyana shared the health screening schedule for Nursery School (year 1) Students across the Regions.

Georgetown, Guyana: Ministry of Health of Guyana shared the health screening schedule for Nursery School (year 1) Students across the Regions 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 and 10.
As per the update from the ministry, the health screening will benefit the health of the children of the country, providing them access to modern and highly equipped healthcare.
The health ministry, while sharing the ‘background’ of the screening, mentioned that the Ministry of Health, in partnership with the Ministry of Education and Mount Sinai Health Systems, has commenced its Comprehensive Child and Youth Health Programme.
It further stated that the initiative targets children who are enrolled to commence nursery level one this year. The medical examination and screening are being conducted by healthcare workers of the Ministry of Health at specific health centres in each region.
What screening will be done?
As per the update, the child will undergo a physical examination. The child’s head, eyes, ears, face, legs and arms. The healthcare workers will also listen to their heartbeat and record their blood pressure readings.
“Should your child require further care and examination, a referral mechanism will be put in place by the healthcare workers administering care,” it mentioned.
According to the update, in Region 1, the screening will be held from August 13 to 14, 2023.
Region 2, the screening will be held from August 3 to August 31
Region 3, the screening will be held from August 1 to August 31
Region 4, the screening will be held from August 7 to 31
Region 5, the screening will be held from August 7 to 31
Region 6, the screening will be held from August 7 to 31
Region 7, the screening will be held from August 8 to 31
Region 8, the screening will be held from August 8 to September 3
Region 9, the screening will be held from August 7 to 31
