Know Here: Who tops medal table of CARIFTA Games 2022

Caribbean: Jamaica has been dominating the CARIFTA Games, and this year, as well, the Jamaican team has been maintaining the streak and leading the medal table of the game.

The 49th edition of the CARIFTA Games has ended on Monday night at the National Stadium in Kingston.

Jamaica has ended the tournament with around 97 medals; of these, 43 were earned by the team on the third and final day. This time, the team has made their best-ever haul, surpassing the previous best of 86 medals, achieved in CARIFTA 2016 in Grenada and CARIFTA 2017 in Curacao.

Earlier, Jamaica has topped the medal tally of the CARIFTA Games for more than 43 times; it was the team’s 36th victory in a row. Jamaicans faced defeat last in 1984 against The Bahamas.

At the end of the Games 2022, the top ten (10) teams are as follows:-

• 1st position is held by “Jamaica” with 97 medals (47 – Gold, 32 – Silver, and 18 – Bronze).
• 2nd position is held by “The Bahamas” with 17 medals (4 – Gold, 6 – Silver, and 7 – Bronze)
• 3rd position is held by “British Virgin Islands” with 11 medals (4 – Gold, 2 – Silver, and 4 – Bronze)
• 4th position is held by Trinidad and Tobago with 23 medals (2 – Gold, 10 – Silver, and 11 – Bronze)
• 5th position is held by Guyana with 7 medals (2 – Gold, 3 – Silver, 2 – Bronze)
• 6th position is held by US Virgin Island with 3 medals (2 – Gold, 1 – Silver, 0 – Bronze)
• 7th position is held by Barbados with 11 medals (1 – Gold, 4 – Silver, 6 – Bronze)
• 8th position is held by French Guiana with 3 medals (1 – Gold, 2 – Silver, 0 – Bronze)
• 9th position is held by the Cayman Islands with 4 medals (1 – Gold, 1 – Silver, 2 – Bronze)
• 10th position is held by Dominica with 2 medals (1 – Gold, 1 – Silver, 0 – Bronze)
