Kingston, Jamaica: A 17-year-old charged with the offence of killing a man on Chancery Lane, Kingston. The teenager is reported to face various charges following the death of a man on Tuesday, 12th March 2024. 

The victim who was shot to death has been identified as 36-year-old Damian Palmer. The name and identity of a 17-year-old boy have not been revealed yet by the officers. 

As per the reports shared by the authorities, the deceased, Palmer was standing along the roadway among his friends when the 17-year-old boy and other men carrying guns opened fire and hit the victim. 

Following the discovery of the incident, the authorities of Kingston Central Police were informed about the act of crime and they took an immediate reaction by visiting the crime spot. 

The investigating officers initiated the process of investigation by seizing the place and the body of the victim was transferred to the hospital where the medical officers examined him thoroughly and pronounced him dead. 

After probing the matter in detail, the 17-year-old boy was charged with several other charges as well. He was charged with murdering a man, possession of a prohibited weapon, unauthorized possession of ammunition and using a firearm to commit a felony.

His date to appear in the court is being arranged and he will have to appear before the magistrate and answer the reason behind his actions. 

Several residents of the community took to their official social media accounts and expressed their views and opinions on the incident and raised their concern over the increasing crime activities among the young blood of the nation. 

One person commented, “I don’t know what to say on this act, he is just 17, they are destroying their lives by getting involved with the wrong people, they feel roaming with firearm looks cool but these young boys do not understand that they are destroying their lives to great extent.”

Another person commented the following “Doesn’t matter if he is young, he has committed a crime so he should definitely be punished for it. If you have the guts to attempt the crime, then one should have the guts to face charges as well.”
