Crime in Jamaica: Gunman open fired in illegal party, 2 died while 3 severely injured

Five persons have been shot by a gunman after he invaded an illegal party, killing two individuals, while the remaining three are severely injured.

Kingston, Jamaica: Another horrific incident reported in Jamaica, as the murders in the island soar high. Five persons have been shot by a gunman after he invaded an illegal party, killing two individuals, while the remaining three are severely injured.

Among the deceased are 23-year-old Tamara Kelly of Old Folly, Discovery Bay, and 21-year-old Roje Linton. While a female tourist is also among the ones, who have been shot and sustained injuries.

As per the report of the police authorities, the illegal party was going on Old Folly in Discovery Bay, St Ann. The incident took place on Monday morning at around 1 am.

The gunman interrupted the party and started an open fire on the party attendees that killed two patrons. The injured were then immediately taken to the hospital facility, where two of them were pronounced dead. One of the individuals was discharged after being treated.

The motive of the gunman has yet not been known; neither identity is yet known by the police officials. No other information has been shared by the authorities, but the investigation is on.

The crime rate is increasing very rapidly in the Caribbean region, which is eventually becoming a threat to its tourism sector. Tourists are being afraid to plan their holidays to Jamaica because of hiking murders and crime rates.

It is believed that drugs and gang issues are the main reason behind that why the island is now facing such a rapid increase in criminal activities. Jamaica is now one of the highest nations in the Caribbean and the Latin American region to have the highest crime.

The Jamaican government is making every effort to curb the soaring killings by imposing a state of emergency and a curfew in the hotspot areas.

Prime Minister Andrew Holness gave special power to the police authorities, asking them to take every step which is needed to stop the rising criminal exercises.
