Antigua and Barbuda: Prime Minister of Antigua and Barbuda Gaston Browne has recently addressed the general public of the nation through his social media handle and has informed the public about the “Christmas Barrel Initiative.”
According to the Prime Minister of the nation, the Christmas Barrel Initiative will start on November 2, 2022, and will end on January 6, 2023.
Under this initiative, each household will be allowed to import some items in a standard-size shipping barrel or an e-container for personal use.
The post by the Prime Minister informed that the following items could be barrelled:
• Clothing (not more than seven pieces of the same type)
• Foodstuff
• Toiletries
The 10 percent Revenue Recovery Charge (RRC) and processing/handling fee of ten dollars ($10) will be charged.

Earlier, he stated, “The Christmas Barrel Initiative started Wednesday, November 2 and will end in January 2023. Thousands of families will likely make use of the waiver of taxes.”
In an effort to bring holiday cheer to those in need, the Christmas Barrel Initiative was created. This program collects donations of Christmas gifts and distributes them to local families in need.
The Christmas Barrel Initiative was started in 2013 by a group of friends who wanted to make a change in their community.
They collect donations of new, unwrapped toys and gifts for children and families in need. The gifts are then distributed to local organizations who help families in need. This program has helped bring holiday cheer to many families in need.
It is a great way to return back to the community and make a difference in others’ lives.
