Jamaica: 78 new cases of coronavirus reported in The Caribbean country Jamaica. The Health Ministry of Jamaica confirmed these two recent deaths due to the coronavirus in the country. With this, the country’s total number of affirmed corona cases goes to 12,597, and the death losses to 294.
As per the Ministry of Health and Wellness of Jamaica, the two recent deaths are of a 75-year-old man from Clarendon and a 67-year-old man from Westmoreland whose death was beforehand under scrutiny for proper analysation.
Out of 78, 37 males and 41 are females
Ministry of Health and Wellness of Jamaica stated that out of 78 new cases, there were 37 males and 41 females with ages varying from 62 days to 95 years. The cases were found in Kingston and St Andrew (14), St Catherine (12), St Ann (11), Manchester (11), St James (9), St Thomas (7), St Elizabeth (4), Clarendon (3), Hanover (3), Westmoreland (3), and Trelawny (1). The country also confirmed 158 recoveries, bringing the total number of recoveries to 9,737.

This new variant is 70 percent more dangerous and contagious. It is more susceptible to children than adults as children have a receptor which is easily hospitable to coronavirus. This new variant of coronavirus is more transmissible .hence citizens must follow the guidelines given by health authorities like the World Health Organisation. For Instance, use alcohol-based sanitiser to fight against this virus. PM urges the citizens of Jamaica to wear their masks and maintain social distancing.

On the other hand, Prime Minister Andrew Holness approached all Jamaicans on the occasion of Christmas via a video on his official account. He declared that “COVID-19 vaccines are free for Jamaicans.
