World:Â Democracy is for the people, by the people, and of the people. If the public opposes any law, then the government must take action on it. But in the Indian farmer’s protest, the government is not taking any significant measure to solve the dispute.
After several inconclusive meetings to get the solution for this protest, the Indian government is still out of a solution. But the question is why these farm laws are not eliminating?Â
According to various international media reports and some reliable sources, it was disclosed that Adani Agri Logistics Ltd (Owned by Gautam Adani, India’s second-richest person) had combined several agriculture-oriented companies since 2019. It is remarkable how Adani and Ambani were well informed of the farm laws before those were displayed in the Indian Parliament. The Adani group also assembled a silo with a capacity of 200,000 metric tons in the Moga district of Punjab, which is nowadays providing a food storage facility to the Food Corporation of India (FCI). Following up another high capacity silo, the Adani group has bought land in Faridkot district to assemble it for a high volume storage facility.
Additionally, India’s richest person, Mukesh Ambani, openly condemned his association in the agriculture sector. In fact, after making such a statement, Ambani owned Reliance Retail Limited officially stated to purchase over 1,000 quintals of Sona Masoori Paddy from farmers in Raichur of Karnataka state for price more than MSP (Minimum Support Price), which is regarded as a deliberate action to attract farmers into the trap of these laws. These laws were made to support corporates, not farmers.
Deterioration of human rights, a real image of media, and violation of democracy results in farmers in devastation. But farmers never stopped from standing against these laws. And the Supreme court’s order in the dispute has helped a lot!
In between this dispute, an official source in President-Elect Joe-Biden’s government unveiled on anonymity condition symbolized a probability of US sentences on the two corporates known to be behind these laws- under the Magnitsky Act.
The government of the new United States under the Magnitsky Act. Ambani and the Adani group could meet Economic and Financial penalties by the US, which would suspend these individuals’ assets, so they can’t obtain their money in foreign bank accounts.
