Castries, Saint Lucia: Saint Lucia National Youth Council expressed gratitude as Youth Month has started with the beginning of the month of April. Council took it to social media and expressed joy and excitement. “We only need one reason why April is the best month, and that is because it’s YOUTH MONTH!” the post noted.

As per the update by the National Youth Council, the theme for this year’s Youth Month will focus on giving strength and power to youth to promote and enhance unity as well as peace across the globe. This year’s youth month has started under the theme “Empowering Our Youth for Peace, Unity and a Safer Society.”

The Saint Lucia National Youth Council is a democratic and youth-led non-governmental organization which aims to promote the active participation of youth in the economic, social, cultural, and political life of Saint Lucia. National Youth Month holds immense significance for the Council as this month provides an extra opportunity to enhance the participation of the young population towards the nation’s development and growth.

In Saint Lucia, every year, April is marked as National Youth Month. The prime objective behind the celebration is to grab attention to some cultural and legal issues surrounding the youth of the island country. The month is also celebrated to increase the participation of youngsters in building a sustainable and better future.

Therefore, under the guidance and orders of the United Nations, International Youth Day is celebrated on April 12 annually.
