Water supply shutdown in north, WASCO shares

Castries, Saint Lucia: The Water and Sewerage Company Inc. (WASCO) informed the people about the temporary water shutdown of the northern water supply in Ciceron to repair the damages on the raw water line on March 1, 2024.
The consumers from Millet to Cap Estate will experience a short-term interruption in their water supply.
It is to be noted that these reclamations are vital to improve the overall water supply system and its reliability to the customers. The repair work includes the damages to the water pipes between the John Compton Dam and the Theobalds Treatment Plants.
WASCO further expressed its commitment to conclude the repairs promptly and revealed that the restoration work is expected to be completed in 48 hours. It suggests people of the concerned region prepare themselves by increasing their potable water storage capacity as there will be no OR shortage of water.
“The Water and Sewerage Company Inc. (WASCO) wishes to confirm that the planned temporary shutdown of the northern water supply to conduct critical repairs is scheduled for Friday 1st March 2024 with an anticipated 48hours completion this frame”, added WASCO.
Further, the authorities urged consumers to cooperate with the situation. Noting this, citizens are asked to reach out to them through their customer care number in case of any localized faults. The authorities ensured the affected customers that they would assign a team to address the challenges through ongoing maintenance efforts.
Additionally, citizens of the concerned areas expressed their frustration through their comments on social media regarding the disruption of the water supply as some regions have high-pressure water while others are experiencing no water at all.
People urged the authorities to look into the matter and try every possible thing in their power to solve the issue of water supply in their regions.
Moreover, WASCO informed the consumers before the shutdown of the water supply so they would get time to store water and also this interruption is required to enhance the water facility to the people.
