Two vehicles collided near Draxhall in St Ann, Jamaica

Jamaica: Another vehicle collision accident has been reported near Draxhall in St Ann, where a two-vehicle crashed.

As per the sources, this incident took place about 11:00 am, when a silver Toyota Axio motor car that was heading towards – Ocho Rios collided with a vehicle that was travelling in the opposite direction.

An eyewitness, while giving his statement, stated that “Me nuh know what happens, but I hear a loud explosion and see the car a fly in the air. All now me can’t believe.” The eyewitness also encouraged the motorists and drivers to reduce their speed on the roads of their vehicles.

The eyewitness stated, “It is the rough man. Mi just a ask the people them to take time on the road.”

The number of people involved and the amount of their injuries are unconfirmed at this current time. Till now, September 16, 2021, St Ann had recorded 21 road fatalities since the start of the year in comparison to the 15 for the corresponding period last year.

Further, the investigation is still going on. Still, there is no confirmation of the identities of the injured.

These accident cases are speedily rising in Jamaica. The citizens need to follow the traffic rules to avoid accidents.

According to the latest – WHO data published in the year of 2018, Road Traffic Accidents Deaths in Jamaica have reached 252 or 1.38 per cent of total deaths. The age-adjusted Death Rate is 8.15 per – 100,000 of the population, which ranks Jamaica at 131 in the world.

The data states that 75 per cent of the Road Crash Fatalities and Injuries in the economically productive age groups are between the age group of (15 – 64 years.)

The nation is also battling with the COVID-19 outbreak; as per the statistics, so far the island has a total of 78,590 COVID-19 confirmed cases, while around 1,772 individuals lost their lives to the deadliest pandemic.
