TTPS: Five arrested, drugs seized & stolen vehicle recover during anti-crime exercise

TTPS, along with other officers conducted several anti-crime exercises in different districts of the country. They arrested a total of five suspects, seized drugs and recovered one stolen vehicle.

Five held, drugs seized and stolen vehicle recovered.

The officers of Trinidad and Tobago Police Services (TTPS), along with other officers conducted several anti-crime exercises in different districts of the country. They arrested a total of five suspects, seized drugs and recovered one stolen vehicle. 

According to the information, the anti-crime operations were held on Wednesday and Thursday. Such operations displayed the police’s untiring efforts to combat the problem of increasing crimes in the nation. 

Details of Anti-crime Exercise 

Arima District 

The Northern Division officers conducted an anti-crime exercise in the Arima district on Wednesday, which resulted in the arrest of two suspects.

While executing the operations in the Arima district, the Task Force officers responded to a report of Shooting with Intent at around 8:20 am. The officers managed to arrest two male suspects in connection with the incident. 

As per reports, a female victim filed a case against two men who approached her home, along with firearms, and they allegedly opened fire in her direction before escaping the place. 

The case is being investigated by the officials of the Arima Criminal Investigations Department.

North Eastern side

Furthermore, the ranks of Santa Cruz Police Station and Criminal Investigations Departments executed an anti-crime activity in the North Eastern Division between 3 pm and 4:30 pm on Thursday. 

During the exercise, they discovered a black coloured Nissan Almera motor vehicle. The vehicle was reported stolen from the Tunapuna district. Interestingly, when they searched the details and background of the vehicle, they came to know that the colour and registration number of the vehicle had changed. 

The investigating officers began their search for the accused, who stole the vehicle and got a lead. They arrested a 45-year-old male suspect in Santa Cruz concerning the matter. 

Port of Spain

The law enforcement officers of the Gang and Intelligence Unit conducted an exercise in the Port of Spain Division between 4 pm and 8:45 pm on Thursday. 

In due course of time, many search warrants were issued in the Besson Street district and as a result, the officials arrested two suspects for possession of a quantity of marijuana. 

As per police reports, the accused were identified as ages 21 and 23, and they resided at the East Dry River in Port of Spain. 

The police are conducting further enquiries into all of the above matters and urged people with any information to come forward and assist them in their investigations. 

Additionally, the authorities are asked to take strict actions and implement measures to reduce the flow of criminal activities in the country. Such anti-crime exercises are important in the fight against crimes.
