The social media update by the Carnival Institute mentioned that it was amidst brilliant sunshine, pomp and ceremony that members of the Government, dignitaries, specially invited guests, school children, members of the public and the nation at large witnessed outgoing and history-making first female President, Paula-Mae Weekes, OR, pass on the baton to another woman, Christine Carla Kangaloo who now takes up the mantle as our Seventh President and Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces.
While concluding the post and extending wishes, CIRC stated, “It is with great pride that CIRC extends congratulations to our new President, Kangaloo.”

On this Throwback Thursday, we are taking you back to the ‘70s with a blast from the past photo taken from The Evening News of 1972.”
It added, “The photo features a lineup with younger versions of some well-known Calypsonians who were members of Kitchener’s Revue Tent. At the time, the tent was located at the National Union of Government and Federated Workers (NUGFW) Hall, Frederick Street. The calypsonians were there to do a rehearsal. Also featured in the photo are the Grandmaster himself, Lord Kitchener and musician Fitz Coleman who was to perform at the tent for the ’72 Carnival season.”
