The awards have been named after Mount Gimie, which is the highest peak in the country, standing at an elevation of 3,120 ft; the Gimies is synonymous with reaching new heights, the pinnacle of excellence.
A tri-agency initiative, the Gimies, has been undertaken through the Ministry of Tourism with support from Saint Lucia Hospitality & Tourism Association and Saint Lucia Tourism Authority. The tourism industry is a quintessential economic driver for the country; as such, aligning the accolades which will be bestowed upon the nation’s best with the highest peak symbolises achievement at the highest level.
The Awards are geared towards all industry stakeholders and purposely spotlight the unsung heroes whose feats of incredulous service have all contributed to the numerous world accolades bestowed upon Saint Lucia. The Gimies will reward organisations, reward employees, establish benchmarks and promote the best business practices.
