St Kitts & Nevis: PM Terrance Drew congratulates Verna Mills for presenting Letter of Commission to Prez of South Africa

Prime Minister Dr Terrance Drew, took his official social media to account to congratulate High Commissioner Verna Mills for presenting her Letter of Commission to the President of the Republic of South Africa – Cyril Ramaphosa.

Basseterre, St Kitts and Nevis: Prime Minister and the Health Minister of the Federation, Dr Terrance Drew, took his official social media to account to congratulate High Commissioner Verna Mills for presenting her Letter of Commission to the President of the Republic of South Africa – Cyril Ramaphosa on March 15, 2023.

PM Dr Terrance Drew, while congratulating, invited the citizens of St Kitts and Nevis and wrote, “Join me also in extending CONGRATULATIONS to HER EXCELLENCY HIGH COMMISSIONER VERNA MILLS, who presented her Letter of Commission to Mr Cyril Ramaphosa, President of the Republic of South Africa today.”

According to the update by the government of St Kitts and Nevis, during the ceremony, High Commissioner Mills was accompanied by her spouse – Jéneve Mills. She also presented the compliments of PM Terrance Drew, the government and the people of St Kitts and Nevis for the well-being and personal health of the South African President and the prosperity of his people.

The update informed that being the first ever non-resident High Commissioner of St Kitts & Nevis to the Republic of South Africa, Mills will continue to work to enhance and support the diplomatic relation between both nations.

While putting light on her early life, the government of St Kitts and Nevis informed that she began her career as the Foreign Service Officer in the Foreign Affairs Ministry in the year 2005. Mills has attained her education from the Diplomatic School of Madrid (graduation) along with Inter-University Master’s Degree in Diplomacy and International Relations.

In March 2014, St Kitts and Nevis Embassy was opened in Havana, Cuba and was headed by Ambassador Mills, and a year later, she was selected as a Counselor/Chargé d’affaires to Cuba.

Furthermore, the authorities informed that in 2017, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of SKN to the Republic of Cuba. She was the first female Ambassador to be selected to Cuba and was the youngest serving Ambassador of St Kitts and Nevis.

She aspired to create new possibilities for engagement in trade and investment, technical and economic cooperation, agriculture, tourism, and other areas of mutual interest. High Commissioner Mills was one of the seventeen other Ambassadors as well as High Commissioners who presented Letters of Commission/Credence to the South African President.
