The team St Kitts and Nevis has arrived in the City of Lights and is checking in for the final leg of their journey to Athens, Greece for the 2024 FIRST Global Robotics Olympics.

The FIRST Global Challenge is an Olympics-style global robotics competition that takes place in a different country every year. And, this time, it will take place in Greece and students from 190+ nations are all set to participate in this competition.

This prestigious competition plays a huge role in bringing together young innovators from around the world to compete and collaborate in the fields of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM).

The theme under which the 2024 FIRST Global Robotics Olympics will take place is “Feeding the Future.” This year’s theme aims to bring students from all over the world to learn about and address the challenges and opportunities to provide the global population with equitable, safe, nutritious, and environmentally responsible food.

While shedding light on the team, the St Kitts and Nevis Robotics Association stated that it consists of innovators, engineers, and problem-solvers who are all set to showcase their skills and compete against the world’s best. This year the team will be led by Dr Ricardo Neil, the primary mentor, and Michelle-Ann Neil has been announced as the secondary mentor.

And, Jaiden Clarke will captain the team for the FIRST Global Robotics Olympics. The other team members who will be competing at this prestigious competition includes, Hanna-Marie Williams, Leah Jermiah, Dominion Woodley and Camille Hewlett-Hobson.

The St Kitts and Nevis Robotics Association noted that they are once again ready to take on the world in robotics engineering and problem-solving, and they are excited. “We are more excited than ever to represent the Caribbean on the global robotics stage.”

Moreover, the St Kitts and Nevis Robotics Olympics has partnered with Gwendoline van Puttenschool for the 2024 FIRST Global Robotics Olympics. They noted that this partnership strengthens their commitment to advancing robotics and STEAM education in the Caribbean.

“Together, we’re ready to bring our innovation and team spirit to the global stage,” noted St Kitts and Nevis Robotics Association.
