St Kitts and Nevis public schools set to reopen on Sept 4

Basseterre, St Kitts and Nevis: The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Federation of St Kitts and Nevis – Denzil Douglas announced that the public schools across the Caribbean nation will reopen from September 4, 2023.
According to the update by the veteran minister, this decision was taken by the Ministry of Education during the meeting held on August 28, 2023 (Monday).
The Minister of Foreign Affairs took his official social media account and highlighted, “The Ministry of Education, on Monday, August 28, held a ceremony to usher in the opening of the 2023-2024 new school year. Public Schools will be opened on September 4, 2023.”
Furthermore, Dr Denzil Douglas mentioned that the event was held at the Rivers of Living Water Christian Centre International and was attended by the Ministry of Education Officials, including Deputy PM Dr Geoffrey Hanley, Minister of Education et al.; PS Pistana; CEO Morris, Resident Ambassadors, Teachers, Students and other supporting staff.
The update also informed that during the ceremony, a number of New Appointments were announced: New Principals and Deputy Principals of Secondary and Primary Schools in St Kitts.
“We wish to congratulate all and pray for a successful and productive 2023-24 School year,” he noted while concluding the official update.
Following this, on August 30, 2023, the government of St Kitts and Nevis assured that it had been committed towards the improvement of the accessibility and affordability of education. It also mentioned that presently, the commitment was shown by the government as seven deserving recipients received scholarships for their pursuit of advanced studies.
During this event, Sherilita Dore-Tyson, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Sustainable Development, highlighted the significance and importance of this endeavour. Accordingly, this award ceremony was held at the St Kitts Marriott Resort, and the attendees this were Ministers under the Ministry of Education.
