St Kitts and Nevis: PM Terrance Drew to visit Taiwan in November

St Kitts and Nevis: Prime Minister of the Federation of St Kitts and Nevis – Dr Terrance Drew, has announced that he will visit the Republic of China (Taiwan) in November to mark the diplomatic bond between the countries. The visit will be marked as the first visit of Terrance Drew as the Prime Minister of the country.

St Kitts and Nevis and Taiwan have been sharing a diplomatic bond since 1983, and nations have stood during the test of time. Prime Minister Dr Terrance Drew, who also serves as the Minister of Finance, National Security, Citizenship and Immigration, Health and Social Security, made the announcement during the Republic of China (Taiwan) Health Walk happened on October 8, Saturday.

The health walk is celebrated to mark the 111th Anniversary of the Independence of Taiwan. The day will be celebrated on October 10, Monday. Prime Minister Drew stated, “Let me announce that my first official state visit will be to Taiwan in November.” He furthermore added that the Premier of Nevis, Mark Brantley, will accompany him on tour to Taiwan with other members from Nevis.

After witnessing the success of the health walk, Prime Minister Drew stated, “So it is just a demonstration that St. Kitts and Nevis and Taiwan continue on the strong path of great relations.” He also highlighted that the walk is the representation of the strong and responsible relationship between St Kitts and Nevis and the Republic of China.

“Irrespective of the political administration that has been (in government), this relationship continues to be strong. It shows that the relationship is just beyond any political party, but really the relationship is a close-tight connection between the people of China on Taiwan, and the people of St. Kitts and Nevis,” the fourth Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis commented.

Along with the Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis, the health walk was attended by Premier of Nevis Mark Brantley, Deputy Premier of Nevis Alexis Jeffers, Minister of Tourism Marsha Henderson, and Minister of Sustainable Development, Environment and Climate Action and Senator Dr Joyelle Clarke.
