St Kitts and Nevis discontinues Tropical storm warning as Ernesto moves away
The NEMA stated that though the warnings have been discontinued and the tropical storm Ernesto has passed but still uncertain weather conditions can likely to create threat such as flooding, gusty winds and unstable surfaces.

Basseterre, St Kitts and Nevis: The Tropical Storm warning has been discontinued from St Kitts and Nevis as the Ernesto moves further away from the country. This warning was discontinued as of 8:00 pm on Tuesday and was announced by National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA).
The NEMA stated that though the warnings have been discontinued and the tropical storm Ernesto has passed but still uncertain weather conditions can likely to create threat such as flooding, gusty winds and unstable surfaces. Therefore, they have asked the residents to exercise caution and take preventive measures especially while moving out or travelling on roads that may have debris or standing water.
Following the discontinuation of the warning, the Acting Prime Minister, Dr Geoffrey Hanley and Dr. Marcus Natta, the Cabinet Secretary also deactivated the National Emergency Operations Centre. The Minister stated that this decision has been taken as the threat of the storm has been reduced for the island nation.
The authorities have also issued an all-clear to the nation due to which the government offices will also open today. And, the emergency crews have started their work by clearing roads and securing downed power lines, with a vision to ensure the safety and accessibility of affected areas.
While lauding everyone’s effort in these tough times and extending gratitude to them, the Acting Prime Minister, Dr Geoffrey Hanley stated that from emergency responders, utility workers to the residents, they all have played a crucial role during the passage of Tropical storm Ernesto.
He especially acknowledged resident for their cooperation and resilience who followed the warnings and took the necessary precautions on time. He also appreciated the unwavering commitment and dedication of the emergency teams and their quick actions towards ensuring the safety of the country and its citizens.
The Acting PM, Dr Hanley, stated that overcoming these challenging periods shed light on the strength and unity of the country in facing such difficult times together. “I am proud of the way we came together as a community to ensure the safety and well-being of all,” noted Dr Hanley.
Abdias Samuel, the National Disaster Coordinator extended gratitude to all the residents for their cooperation and instant response during this challenging period. He further called their safety as his utmost priority and ensured them that they will continue to take stringent actions for the well-being of the nation.
Moreover, the National Emergency Management Agency have asked the residents to keep on monitoring official channels such as NEMA, SKNIS, ZIZ Facebook pages or any other local news platforms for further information or detail about the change in weather patterns.
