St Kitts and Nevis’ associations, ministries morn demise of former Premier of Nevis Amory

St Kitts and Nevis: The Federation lost a beloved politician, great citizen, former cricketer and former Premier – Vance Amory on April 2, 2022 (Saturday). Amory lost his life in a London hospital during cancer treatment.

Several leaders and associations of St Kitts and Nevis came ahead to express grief on the passing away of Vance Amory.

While expressing deep condolences, St Kitts and Nevis Prime Minister Dr Timothy Harris stated, “I am saddened by the passing of Vance Amory, who was my reliable friend, mentor and advisor, illustrious founding member of Team Unity.
I express condolences are with his loving wife Vernita, his daughters, the rest of his family and a wide circle of well-wishers. The homies of St Kitts and Nevis have lost our Elder Statesman. May his soul find eternal peace.

Deputy Prime Minister Shawn Richards shared a statement that read, “It was with much sadness that the former Premier of Nevis, Ambassador Vance Amory, suddenly passed earlier on April 2, 2022.
I extend my sympathies to his wife Verni, children and extended family. He was Minister of Labour, and I was Deputy Prime Minister.

Premier of Nevis, Mark Brantley, also took social media to express his deepest grief. The Premier wrote, “Nevis has today lost an icon. Vance Amory was a Statesman and lifelong servant to the people of Nevis. He was an extraordinary man who served Nevis as a sportsman, educator, banker and Premier. As Premier of Nevis, I extend my deepest condolences to his wife, children and close friends. Their loss is our loss.

Cabinet Minister of Nevis Island Administration Spencer Brand recalled “Parson” and with a heavy heart wrote, “Parson, our nickname for one another,
I was awoken this morning to the sad and unbelievable news of the passing of Ambassador and former Premier of Nevis, Vance W. Amory. A man whose DNA can be seen and felt throughout the length and breadth of Nevis in education, sports, finance, religion, and politics. His contribution to nation-building is exemplary and transformative. I pray that God, through his love and mercy, will comfort his dear wife, his children, immediate family, and friends in this very dark and painful time.
I pray that his creator, God, whom he served as a youth, will welcome him in glory and grant him rest. May his soul rest in perpetual peace. RIP Parson!

Social Security Board of St Kitts and Nevis also shared an official notification to express grief. The condolences message read, “With great sadness, we mourn the loss of former Premier and former Minister of Social Security Hon Vance Amory. Hon Vance Amory served as Minister of Social Security from 2015 to 2020. One of his most impactful decisions included the implementation of the COVID-19 Relief Fund, which provided financial support to insured persons whose income was lost or affected by the coronavirus pandemic.
The Social Security Board offers condolences to his wife, children, loved ones and the people of the Federation of St Kitts and Nevis. May his soul rest peacefully.

Kitts-Nevis UWI Alumni Association, while expressing sadness, stated, “St Kitts and Nevis UWI Alumni Community is grieving the loss of one of its distinguished members as we learned, with deep sorrow, of the passing of His Excellency Vance Amory, former Premier of Nevis and former Senior Minister in the Federal Cabinet of Ministers, on April 02, 2022.”
