Silver Airways cancels Caribbean flights amid Tropical Storm Ernesto

Silver Airways has announced the cancellation of services from and to Caribbean region from Monday, 12th August to Thursday 15th August 2024. The flights have been cancelled due to the severe weather in the Caribbean network caused by Tropical Storm Ernesto.
While sharing the details about the cancellation of the flights, the Silver Airways stated that they will waive change fees and fare differences for customers travelling Monday through Thursday. The cities whose flights have been cancelled for this period of time includes, Dominica, San Juan, St. Croix, St. Maarten, St Thomas, USVI and Tortola, BVI.
The authorities of the airline have stated that this decision was taken with a vision to ensure the safety and security of all the passengers and crew members. For the same, they have urged the passengers to be patient and cooperate with them during this time.
In addition to, they stated that the customers can either contact guestrelations@silverairways.comor call Help Centre at 801-401-9100 to use this fee waiver. They added that the original travel must be booked on or before Sunday, 11th August 2024. Moreover, the customers can also rebook their flights for travel through Tuesday, 20th August 2024.

Notably, several Caribbean regions were under the threat of Tropical Storm Ernesto, which is anticipating to create huge destructions in some of the island nations. A Hurricane Watch is in effect for U.S. and British Virgin Islands, Vieques, and Culebra. A tropical storm warning is in effect for St. Maarten, Puerto Rico and many more.
Also, the Silver Airways has urged their passengers to stay safe during these challenging times and protect themselves from becoming the victim of tropical storm Ernesto.
As per the recent details shared by Meteorological Services, Tropical Storm Ernesto is currently moving to the north of Puerto Rico, with maximum sustained winds 70 mph, just shy of hurricane classification. There is a strong likelihood that Ernesto will strengthen into a hurricane.
Heavy rainfall and gusty winds are creating disastrous effects in Puerto Rico. According to the authorities, Ernesto has the potential to become a major hurricane in the coming days.
Therefore, the Meteorological Services have asked all the residents to continue to stay indoors and take precautionary measures to avoid any problems. The citizens have also been asked to stay updated and vigilant with a vision to enhance their safety and security.
