Shannon Douglin and Rosemarie Dinnoh-Newland wins Grenada’s Table Tennis Champ
Shannon Douglin and Rosemarie Dinnoh-Newland are the men’s and women’s singles champions of the Grenada 50th Independence Table Tennis Tournament.

Grenada: Shannon Douglin and Rosemarie Dinnoh-Newland are the men’s and women’s singles champions of the Grenada 50th Independence Table Tennis Tournament. The championship was hosted by the Grenada Table Tennis Association and conducted at Grenada Youth Centre on Saturday, January 27, 2024.
Shannon Douglin defeated his old rival Junior St. John in the men’s singles to claim the title of new champion. He won in straight sets 11-6, 11-8, 11-6. In the women’s singles, Rosemarie Dinnoh-Newland defeated Anique Bonaparte in four sets, 11-8, 11- 7, 9- 11, and 11-7.
The semifinals of the Men’s singles produced two thrilling and exciting matches. In the first semifinal, Shannon Douglin was taken to four sets by Jason Stanislaus and in the other semifinal, another finalist, Junior St. John, saved four match points to defeat Cedric Marquez 11-7, 11-8, 8-11, 13-15.
Result of U20 Singles
Also, Cedrick Marquez beat Qwanell Walker in the U20 singles boys in four sets 11-9, 11-9, 9-11, 11-9. The match displayed impressive counter-hitting and retrieving. Meanwhile, in the U20 singles Girls, Anigue Bonapart defeated Sarvani Frederick in straight sets. Divine Smith stood at the second spot and Kayla Dubisette secured the fourth position.

The U13 Singles Boys competition was a thrilling contest as 12 participants produced several exciting matches. The winner of the U13 Singles from Boys was Shondel Streaker, who defeated Jonique Mark. In the girls, Sarvani Frederick defeated Divine Smith to claim the title of U13. Khadine Noel stood third and Isi Walker secured the fourth position.

Jonique Mark bounced back from his defeat against Shondel Streaker to capture the Boys U15 title.
Result of U11 Singles Boys
Xavier Gibbs defeated Renaldo Andrew in the final to claim the title of Boys U11 champion.
Furthermore, the Open veterans champion is David Mc Kenzie, who defeated Anthony Forsyth in the final to record a straight sets victory.
The Ministry of Youth and Sports also extended congratulations to all the winners and participants of the Grenada Table Tennis Association’s 50th anniversary of the Independence Open Championship.
In addition, the Grenada Table Tennis Association extended heartfelt gratitude to the tournament sponsors, the Ministry of Sports, and all the participants and the audience for their support.
